Looking for opinions.....

Re: Looking for opinions.....

So, with all the talk about 'cheaper' components with the implication of earlier failure, How many people using these JOYOs have experienced early failures? I'll start...none to date with any on mine.

I have on my california sound. It buzzes with dc power but not on battery power. What i did was added a wire from one of the ground point of the 1/4" jack to the negative of dc socket. Now it doesnt buzz with dc power but does on battery power.

The only good component in there i'd consider good are the pots, seem to be of acceptable quality. I have an actone for backup, the soldering on the pcb is shoddier on it. Its cheap enough to not complain about, probably why not the best thing i'd recommend for live gigs but it works in a pinch.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

Is this like a white suburban sort of current contemporary christian service, or a southern black baptist kinda deal?

I play with in an African American Church where we do a mix of Soul/Blues with Rock/Contemporary Christian style, I love it! Squirrelly plays in more of a the White Southern Baptist style–he's sent me some of their stuff and they feature a large choir along with an orchestra/band.

EDIT: But GuitarSquirrell would be the best to more accurately describe what they play, I've only heard a couple clips.

Re-lidge-in is not a permissible topic.

I don't think this is religous–it is about a style of music. :)

I didn't have any with mine, but I bought it new and didn't have it very long (won a bid on a Suhr Riot)

These are the problems I heard about them...but for $30+/- can one really complain too much?

Re: Looking for opinions.....

How big a liability is a plastic pedal enclosure, anyway? Has anyone ever broken an actual pedal housing? (Metal cases are cool and all, and they provide some shielding, but they don't do much to prevent switches from breaking or pots from going bad.)

Liability would depend on the weight of the person or object placing pressure on one. Like say if someone is heavyweight and decides to stomp on the plastic switches rather than press them on regular basis or if someone trips on one then well its gonna break the plastic body along with the pcb board held inside. With a metal box the enclosure can help protect the board, pots should be easy enough to replace but a cracked board is much difficult task.

Still, the plastic ones should be plenty safe in a studio or home environment, cheap enough like $25 to replace with a new one perhaps if it breaks. But live, eh I'll pass.

It probably costs $5 for the pedal & $25 shippig from China, i think of it in that way with my purchases of these lol

Cant complain though, replacements are cheap new. Sure is fun to get these for home use for very little bucks than the originals.

Ha! You are probably right! lol

And yes, can't complain at all! The US Dream was very close to the Suhr Riot as far as the sound was concerned–it was the response that set the Riot above the US Dream. What that tells me is that if someone is unsure about what pedals they want, then get the cheap Joyos and figure out what you like–that way you can try out a ton without the big bucks. lol

Re: Looking for opinions.....

D-Seed got kicked on the Pedalboard by a clumsy drummer.
Power socket was damaged
