Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I know they are not as common now, but I am hoping some of you have a few double cream pickups left to help a forum brother out. I need one or two to complete some sets I have started.

Looking for the pickups below, plus anything else interesting you might have from other winders, but not Dimarzio. Just not a fan of their tone profile. I'm looking for PAF style stuff, nothing higher output really. I'm also not looking to spend the kind of money that Wizz or Throbak demand, unless you have a great deal on them.

As always, I prefer SD pickups first, but some of the other winders offerings intrigue me, such as the Sigil Bluesman 68's and a few others. I can buy these pickups plus I have a few SD pickups I can trade, as well as a couple of dirt pedals, including an early original Fulltone Fulldrive. Let me know why you have..... thanks.

PG - Neck**
59' - Bridge and Neck

Sigil Pickups
Rewind Pickups

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

No love for a forum bro who needs a couple of double creams? It was a few years ago (5 or so) and I posted looking for some DC's and I received more offers than I could buy. I know they are hard to come by and not easily replaced, but if you have a DC PAF style that you're not using, I would love to fairly compensate you for it.

Peace be with you and may you live long, and prosper.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

doesn't necessarily match what you're seeking, but i have a doubke creme set of ibanez infinity humbuckers i could sell on the cheap.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

Mig50....thank you so much for the offer, I do really appreciate it. Those aren't what I'm looking for right now, but I will reach out to you if my needs change. Thank you again.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

The only double cream Duncans I have are a JB & JazzN; I want to keep 'em together as a set.
Will not part with Rewind's insanely great Pale Rider. Or my Wizz.
Aside from those, all I've got in double cream PAF types is a couple of DiMarzios.

I have a double white VintageVibe that's not in use. (4-wire/7.75K.) It would not match cream or even antique white.
But if you have any interest, I'd consider trades.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I have a double cream Custom here in Germany. Its a 80ies model with "Custom" on the backplate.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I have a double cream David Allen Alley Cat bridge pu with 12" leads. These are only sold as a set and come stock with an A2 magnet. There is a rough cast A5 in it now, but I would include the original A2 also.

PM if interested.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

Thanks for the replies fella's. I've found some of what I'm looking for, and the DC's are apparently getting hard to come by. I made an impulse buy on a couple of SD DC's from the early 80's and paid too much. I'll likely put one or two for sale here pretty soon to see if any members here need to complete any sets. One is a 59' N and the other is a Custom.

I'm going to try the Custom first, as it's DC is 13.31, which is much lower than today's specs. There is something to the older SD pickups, I can say from experience. I have a JB from the late 70's or early 80's with no baseplate stamp at all, and it sounds much different than a modern JB, which I also have. Different materials from different suppliers than today, among other things. Are they dramatically different, like different pickups? No. But the difference is audible.

Hamerfan, I bet your Custom would have been a better deal, even with shipping from the EU. I had already bought mine when you posted. Thanks to everyone else who posted offers and if something changes I'll get back to you individually.

I could still use a 59'b and a Seth(n) if anyone has one, or something Custom Shop that's interesting.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I am thinning the herd. So i could offer you a dc Seth N and a dc Ant bridge, both are in my R8 now. The Seth was gold but i changed it to nickel and the Ant came secondhand without the cover, but with all papers and box. Same with the Seth.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I think I have a DC trembucker in my drawer. I could use a DC Custom, ant, or seth if Jeff doesn’t want them.

I messaged him about the DC Seth, but that's the only one I need. I have a DC Custom and a pair of Ants, so have at em' Ayrton.

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

I have a double cream Brobucker with short legs and slightly aged cover (probably first forum run). I don't want to sell, but if you have a nice offer maybe I could consider :)

EDIT: It's Seymour wound

Re: Looking For Some Double Cream Pickups

Wolfe at Wolftone will wrap you a double cream set of whatever you want. I play a set of Marshallhead MKII double-cream w/un-oriented A5 magnets.

Thank you so much for the offer. I actually acquired a double cream Brobucker several years ago and it is indeed a great pickup.

I've got a short list of pickups I want to try, and Wolftone is definitely on that list. There are more people than I thought that will wind a double cream pickup, which is really good for those of us who don't prefer Dimarzio. Thanks for taking the time to share that information.
