Looking for some help on a Vintage Stack

Greetings all......

I picked up one of the lower end Fender Telecasters this afternoon.I always wanted a Tele, and I needed something for a traditional single coil type sound as all of my other guitars are Jacksons loaded with hb pickups.

I figured it was best to go with a lower end one,as I will be replacing parts as I go along to better suit my playing style.

At any rate,I picked up a Duncan 1203-15 STK T3b Vintage Stack pickup and installed it this evening.

It sounds ok I guess, but the output seems to be significantly less then the stock neck pickup.

Is this pickup lower output????? Or did I get a dud, which is highly unlikely as I have used Duncan pickups since they came out and never had a problem.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

TIA

Mike

Re: Looking for some help on a Vintage Stack

make sure you adjust the height properly ... i have a set of vintage stack for tele pups in my '52ri clone and really dig them ... they are clean and clear, respond to pick dynamics and the volume control very nicely .... but the amp does all the hard work ... they are not pushin it hard by any stretch of the imagination ...

they are pickups that make you appreciate subtlety ... like the pretty brunette girl on the student council and from your french class ... not the loudmouth chicklet teeth bottle blonde who is the head cheerleader and a couple years away from a boob job

i have no idea why i just used that analogy .. but it came to me and i went with it

good luck with the pups

btw - they work great with a 4-way switch mod

cheers
