Looking for suggestions; Slightly hotter PAF humbucker(s)

Re: Looking for suggestions; Slightly hotter PAF humbucker(s)

i think its the a2 mids thing, i feel like a2 pups make the amp breakup a little earlier than a5 even if the a5 seems louder

On the hot end of Duncan PAFs is the '59. I would try those first, if I wanted the hotter end of a generally "authentic" P.A.F. They generally have specs that could have existed in true P.A.F.s, but due to their A5 magnets combined with their healthy winds, they are on the upper end of the scale in terms of output from such pickups.

If, OTOH, you want a "hot rodded P.A.F." type of thing, there are many in the Duncan lineup. I can't even rattle them all off.

FWIW, I didn't find the WLH much hotter than the '59B. Nor did I find it smoother. Slightly less sizzle, yes, but also more high-mid snarl. Not as deep low-end too.

Cool pickup, but it's still in the standard PAF realm, IMO. Not hot by any means.
