Looking to go wireless, any advice on these??

I've used a lead for years, but with my new band playing bigger stages and 6 of us up there, I'm looking to go wireless. Have narrowed my search down to these 3 units.....

Sennheiser EW172G2
AKG WMS400/450
Audio Technica ATW3110G

Basically looking for a mid price UHF multi channel unit (our other guitarist and singer use wireless gear so this is essential).

Anybody have any thoughts or experience with these?? I know the Senny is a good unit, 'cos thats what our other guitarist uses although it's now a bit pricier than the other two. Any comments appreciated!!

I've got the Sennheiser G2... it's superb! I've been out of the building at some of our gigs probably as far as 50mt and works great. Doesn't seem to have an effect on my tone either but make sure you use good batterys. We have 3 of these in our band plus the vocal Mic version... never any issues! Build quality is excellent too.. highly recommended.

I've been using an Audio Technica wireless system for 5+ years now without any problems. My tone is excellent and I have not experienced a single dropout or any type of interference. I forget the model number now, but it was a $300 system I bought from GC several years ago.

If I was to change anything about the system, it would be the cable that came with the unit. I must use A/T cable. They now make a slightly more expensive system that you can use your own 1/4 cable.

This is an interesting question. Does wireless affect tone at all? I always thought good cables sound better.

One of the first things I did when I got my wireless system home was A/B it with my fav cable by Spectraflex. I had no discernable noise or coloration in my tone.

-There was a slight volume drop. The A/T system allows you to adjust the output volume, so I matched the A/T volume to the volume level of my cable. Now they sound very much alike. no noise, interference, or change in tone and best of all, no cable!

Thank you. I wanted to know that. Can you connect to more than one amp with one of those units?

Re: Looking to go wireless, any advice on these??

My system only has 1 1/4" output for guitar, but does have another output for mic.

You'd probably have to get a splitter or A/B/Y box if you're running 2 amps.

I had an Audio Technica that was poor in build quality as well as signal transmission.

I bought a Samson VHF unit that was better than the (supposedly) higher end Audio Technica.

A/B the Samson was leaps and bounds better than the A.T. UHF

I'll accept the minor affect on tone for the freedom of wireless in a live situation.
