It seems to happen if the two screw holes in the baseplate are not centered with the two threaded holes for the ht. adjustment screws in the pickup. When you screw the ht. adjustment screws in, they push the baseplate loose.
Duncan needs to address this issue as it's happened to me twice now. The people assembiling the Twangbanger seem to lose thier concentration on some of them or something....
Remove the baseplate and drip a few drops of candle wax from a lit candle onto the baseplate or bootem bobben surface.
Then heat the baseplate with a soldering tool until the wax melts and press it firmly in place until it cools.
But make certain the screw holes are aligned perfectly this time or the ht. adjustment screws will push it loose again.
The magnets should hold it to the bottom but the Twangbanger is Alnico 2 so it may need a little extra help. Melted wax will help with that and also prevent feedback.
you mean you dont have a hide glue pot to heat wax in?
on mine i took the threads off the bobbin so the base plate is what the screws thread into then dipped it with the screws and springs in pushing the plate to the bobbin bottom. mine also is a pre-production model so im not sure if this has been addressed.
