Lost to GAS again ...

Recently I sold my Soldano to get a laptop PC. I was proud of myself.

Then, I hit hard by GAS and got this one.

That's right. It's Rivera Chubster 1X12 55 Watt with custom tolex and grill. Also, it comes with boost level adjust pots for both channels that are done by special order.

I just got an email from the seller that it was shipped today. Can't wait!

SWEET!

I'm guessing no laptop then ;).

I got the laptop too.

Maybe I should not have gone to best buy on the day I sold my amp ... :smack:

yeah...to tell you the truth i haven't decided whether i'll get the fandango in the 2x12 or 1x12 or just a head and an avatar cab!?

Re: Lost to GAS again ...

I hate heavy amps too. But why am I considering a Rivera M100 head??? It weighs a ton. I have played a few Rivera's like the R55-12, an S120 (love the Chorus feature) and now this M100.

I think the EL34 amps sound good in triode mode. Many amps with a triode switch are voiced for the higher power and character of tetrode/pentode operation. I think an amp should be voiced to sound good in the lower power triode mode and I bet it would still sound great when it is cranked. Just my humble opinion on that subject,

Brent

Re: Lost to GAS again ...

I had that KH55 head and it was an incredible value when compared to the multi thousand dollar boutique amps out there. My only issue with it is that I had it running with a closedback 2x12 Avatar cab. I think it really needed an open back to bring out its very best.

Riveras are great bang for the buck amps. I do believe if I hadn't picked up this Two Rock, I'd have another Rivera right now (one with reverb though).
