Lovepedal SuperLead

Just got my latest Guitar center monthly rag.

Lovepedal is buildin' an exclusive Plexi type pedal for GC. $129 bucks- with "thick" or "open" mid type switch.

May have to check one of these out-

Or maybe I should just grab a Plimsoul and be done with it...

Decisions.....

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

I have three of them sitting in my warehouse at work.

My co-worker tried one and won't shut up about it.

Shall I give it a test drive and report back? :D

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

I never care for most dirt box videos, because they always use a very clean amp, then turn the gain up too high. I have a feeling this pedal does a much better job adding a lead tone on an overdriven amp. Just turn up the Lovepedal's volume and back the gain down.

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

So what did you think?

I gave it a go for about 30 minutes today with a Strat and a Fender Deluxe VM.

For me playing a Strat into a Fender amp, it sure did thicken up my sound a lot. Very British, very thick. The tone controls and the mid shift button let me go from kinda bright and jangly and gritty to thick and meaty pretty easily. Best way to describe it is that it's a Plexi-flavored pedal. Up until about 2'oclock on the gain knob, you get stock/jumpered cranked Plexi flavored tones, but upwards from that is a hot-rodded Plexi flavor.

Not a heavy distortion pedal on it's own, but too much gain to really be classified as an overdrive pedal. It's a good pedal that dishes out straight up ROCK tones. It works well when paired up with a clean amp, but I have a feeling it'd work best supplementing a dirty amp that's already producing some chunk.

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

hmmm...wonder how it would compare to a DLS?!

can't imagine liking any marshall tones being coaxed out of a fender based amp any more than i do through it!?

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

I've got a Purple Plexi 100. It does great with the Tele and the Strat through the Bogner. Not so saturated at all. It adds a hairy-chested girth, and the upper frequencies stay very clear. You can hear it on lead and rhythm on "Mercy and the Wolf" on my CD (not trying to sell you a CD, but you can check out the sound on the myspace if you like).

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

how does it work for an overdrive??

Ironic, in the same GC mag, Boss has a new pedal called Power Stack that has the same coloring and some of the same descriptive features. percussive chunk, etc..

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

I don't know if I would categorize it as an overdrive in the usual sense of the word. Its not at all like a TS or something like that. Very cool, but very different.

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

Bumping up an old thread rather than starting a new one. To say that I offed my Tweak Fuzz and I'm rocking the SuperLead pedal now. I agree with just about everything that's been said in this thread. I plug into a Fender Amp that gets a little dirty when I crank the volume knob, this pedal definitely handle all the distortion needs I think I would ever desire. Gets Very Crunchy, can do some decent metal tones with a nice humbucker. I dig it for sure.

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

Very true! I stupidly sold mine last year and have been missing it. I don't like it unless the gain is maxed, and then it's a fire breather!
It's definitely not in the DLS category, the Superlead has more ballz! Picking up another one soon!

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

Heh..this thread freaked me out when I saw it...silly zombies..

I ended up trying one of these eventually. It was a good pedal, but IMO overhyped..like the BA78. . I eventually ended up with the wampler plextortion, and sticking with my distortron for old jtm and plexi type sounds.

I wanted to resurrect something. :)

I was looking for a pedal I could pick up cheap and that I could get a nice metal tone with through a Blues Jr. Plugged one in at Guitar Center and was happy with what I heard. $49.99 price tag, plus me trading in my Tweak Fuzz had me walking out of there with a very inexpensive pedal.

Re: Lovepedal SuperLead

You got a good deal!! It is a good MIaB pedal for Fender amp, no doubt.
