I haven't owned a 100 different amps like a lot of you and none very good but this thing has been the most fun so far.
I've owned a Jazz Chorus, some old Peavey solid state, Crate Vintage Club, Peavey Mini Collosal, Vox AVT30, Carvin Legacy, Egnater Tweaker (for 2 weeks), and now the 6505.
I'm running it into my Avatar 2x12 cab with G12H30 and Vintage 30. I compared it to the stock speaker and it definitely improved the sound.
I'm not too concerned about cleans sounds but so far the thing takes pedals fairly well. The crunch channel has usable gain from 0 to dimed and it's what I have been playing with most. It boosts well too with my keeley ds-1 and BBE Screamer. The lead channel has plenty of gain on tap but I wouldn't run it past 6, loses clarity. I like the independent presense and resonance controls for each channel, nice little extra on the amp.
Is the sound perfect? No. Some fizzle on some settings but I've found my eq in the loop can remove some of that.
I've played the 6505 heads and they are definitely different and do sound better IMO, but 120 watts is too much.
Honestly, if you wait for one of those guitar center coupons for 20% off ,you can get a new amp for $464 + tax (it comes up in the GC system as $579.00). Plus they are offering a free footswitch via rebate till 10/31/2010.
Probably some better deals used, but I do like having brand new stuff.
