Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

I spotted a local one for $200, probably will take a look later today but I've never seen one that cheap in any decent condition. Cheapest I've bought before has been $250, and that was when everyone was dumping their gear 4 years ago. What's the lowest you've seen in your neck of the woods?

The lowest I've paid was $345 plus tax on a CAR (Candy Apple Red) w/ rosewood FB 1996 MIM Strat. It's a great guitar with hot pickups.;)

Not a MIM, but my red MIA '93 fender I got for 400 euro's including a frontman 212 amp. I love the guitar, the amp does not live at my home anymore ;).

I was just going to say $200 there was a sunburst MIM with locking tuners on ebay about a month ago I dont know why I didn't snag it.

That's pretty low, OP. I bought a really nice one for $225 a couple of years ago, and I saw one on CL the other day for $200 that I think was in very good shape. If you like the one you're looking at OP, I'd say grab it. You dont see many at that price.

Mint? Probably $350.

I've seen beaten-up 90's units go for $250-ish though.

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

I got a near flawless white mim strat for $200 once, but sold it later. Never should have done that...

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

i found a sunburst for a student for $200 a year or so ago. very nice guitar and a great deal

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

I rarely see them for under $300 in any condition around here. Sellers seem to want crazy prices and buyers seem to want freebies.

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

A buddy of mine sold his around $220. I thought that was pretty damn low.

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

$200 for a MIM is a very good price...if it is in decent shape. I would want to see it to make sure that there isn't a major problem like a warped neck or worn out frets. People in the SF Bay Area want ~$200 for MIC Squiers. Looking at the musical instruments section on CL is depressing compared to other areas where I have lived.

Re: Lowest price you've seen on a mint MIM Strat?

They usually go for $200 to $300 in used, but not thrashed condition. Condition doesn't really affect the value that much. In other words, don't pay $350 for one just because it is mint. It's a Mexican Strat; who cares if it's mint or not? It's only so good regardless of condition. The most I'd pay for a used one would be $250, period. And I would even think twice about that unless it came with a nice case and/or some nice pickups.

That said, I'm only talking about the used/Craig's List market here. I bought my '05 MIM brand new for $425 out the door, and my '12 MIM for $500 out the door. Both were well worth the prices IMO, given the in-store support and the factory warranty that come with a new guitar.
