LP Classic Antique is here!!!

Hey guys,

I recently received my new Les Paul last Friday. Gibson is doing a "Guitar of the Week" promotion and releasing several popular models in limited colors. I've been GAS'ing for a "classic antique" and when they released this limited edition color in "Fireburst" I had to get it. Thanks to the kind fellas at Sweetwater for getting this guitar to me in perfect condition.

The kind folks at Sweetwater set up and inspected the guitar before sending it to me. They even called to ask what kind of strings I preferred. I had them install Gibson strings in 10-46. The action was set low, but thats how I like it.

The guitar arrived in perfect condition. The only exception was the plastic tip of the toggle had broken. Luckily, it was just the plastic. Otherwise, the toggle still worked just fine. Fortunately, I had an extra tip and it screwed on without any problems. All electronics worked great. No noise at all. The neck was nice and thin. Very easy to play. I actually prefer this slim taper neck to the fat '59 neck on my studio. The body feels light compared to my studio, which feels heavy like a ton of bricks. Surprisingly tho, the classic sounds "heavier" than the heavier studio. The '57 classic pick ups sound surprisingly great. I played some AC/DC and Led Zep thru my TSL602 and it sounds right on. These pups are very articulate, and push very well, but are not "over the top". I plan to keep these pups, but I do wish they had nickel covers...

The finish was flawless. Beautiful AA maple cap had a nice match to it. Very deep and almost 3 dimensional. The "burst" of the colors blended beautifully. Binding all around was even, straight and perfect. This is probably the best quality I've seen from a gibson in a while. Binding was perfect even on the headstock and there was no paint bleeding anywhere. The back and neck are painted black. No flaws or "missed spots" sometimes seen on other Gibson's.

Overall this guitar is great, and I was very surprised that this particular model arrived in such great condition. Usually when buying a Gibson, I end up ordering 3 or 4 of them until I find 1 that is satisfactory. After drooling over a LP with a flame top for years, I've finally found one for me. Hopefully the limited edition run of only 400 guitars will add to its value.

Thanks,
