LPD Seventy4

Looking to add some 70s Marshall tones to my arsenal, I started doing some research and came across the LPD (Lawrence Petross Design) Seventy4. I had not heard of this builder before, but based on a lot of positive feedback I decided to take a chance on this one. So far, I'm thoroughly impressed. It has a really nice grind to it. Reminiscent of a hot rodded plexi, but not like Van Halen or something like that. It's heavier. Darker and more organic sounding, with more body to it. I'm definitely looking at more pedals from this builder.

I have his Embers overdrive. Really high quality stuff, great sound.

If I didn't already have my Marshall tones covered, I'd be looking at his other designs for sure!

The Dirty Shirley pedal is also one to consider...it does 60s-70s Marshall tones really well.

I’ve looked at that one for a long time but was unsure if it was right for me. It’s been my impression that the Friedman pedals lived on the more 80s side of the things, but maybe I’m wrong about that.

I’m after darker, more mid-forward Marshall tones for detuned guitars. Do you think the Dirty Shirley is tight enough for drop D or even drop C?
