Lynch tone on new CD?

Has anyone the new Furious George CD? I am loving it and wondering if you guys hear a lot of single coil tones on this CD? Particularly the neck.

Now, I feel I need a single coil guitar in my collection and notnecessarily coil split humbuckers or a strat. Then again, apparently Rio grande and Anderson make humbuckers with true single coil tones when split.

Thanks.

Re: Lynch tone on new CD?

I have Furious George, and am very familiar with the gear used on it.
He basically used the following guitars on that CD:

A modified Kamikaze guitar with a single coil in the neck.
His M1 tiger guitar with a nickel covered pup in the bridge. I have no idea which pup this is, tho. I didn't get the chance to ask his tech last week! Grrrrr ...
A Les Paul.

And recently, he's been playing both his ESP Strat replica and he has a seafoam green strat as well.

The amp he used was 1965 Marshall plexi head.

I said this before in a thread about this album: FURIOUS GEORGE has the best rock mix of the year. It's absolutely perfect!!

There really aren't a lot of single coil tones on this album, accept for maybe Brige of Sighs ...

Thanks! So you think a lot of his lead work was the bridge humbucker???

Does that ESP strat have three single coils?

I didn't realize he was playing LPs and Strats more these days. Did you see him live on this tour? Do you know which song he had used the LP? Thanks a million.

Well, Space Station #5 is defintely the Les Paul. The Strat must be a relatively new idea, not sure why he's playing that these days. The ESP strat has 3 single coils in it, but they may be stacked humbuckers. 7th Hell may know more about this guitar. It was used on the 1st Lynch Mob CD as well.

As for seeing him live on this tour, the answer is YES.
My band opened for him when he played in NYC a week ago. :D
I'll find the thread I started with the show review for ya.

Thanks bro, you are most helpful. :)

I take it a lot of his solos on the CD were the standard bridge humbucker....JB probably?

I saw him on touor the last time around with Lynch Mob and to be honest I wasn't thrilled with his tone. He used the Viper loaded with EMGs.

Re: Lynch tone on new CD?

My pleasure, PS. :)
I would say Screamin' Demon or a JB fer sure.
This time around he's NOT using a POD and he's using a vintage Marshall 4x12 as well as a vintage Hiwatt 4x12. I have a Hiwatt 4x12 from the 70's and I can tell ya: that cab SCREAMS!!

Hey Guys,

According to George (Interview in Dec '04 Guitar One mag.), "I played my ESP Tiger and signature series guitars, which are strung with Dean Markley strings and have Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon pickups."
He also mentions that he borrowed some vintage gear from Tone Zone in Pasadena & that he's been pickin alot with his fingers lately, ala Jeff Beck.
Could explain the tone.

Peace,

Darrin

Picking a lot with his fingers on clean?

I still think I hear the single coil neck position on many solos. Do my ears deceive?
