These are the originals, they have gone horribly microphonic. The sane way of fixing em would be to wax pot them, but this would be too easy. I want outta phase, series-parallel, tapping possibilities and these pups only have ground and hot outputs.
So first I decided to give them a four wire + ground cable. But hey! If I have to open these pups I might as well switch some magnets (damn computer didn't accept my cell photos of the mag switch!?!)
These are 3 mag pups, I assume Invaders are like this too, so I switched only the middle mags. A8 on bridge and A4 on neck.
Now I had to snip the little wires betwix the coils to install the new 4cable sheath, sooo if I was gonna separate the coils I might as well do some neck/bridge hybriding too. Thus the north coil of bridge was switched to north coil of neck, this makes one coil hotter than the other on both buckers ha!
Installed new cables and checked on the multimeter:
To give more power to the south coils I raised the screws on these to match the Gibsons '93 radious (12')
Now I wax pot em, 20% bee wax.
Am electric stove, dimmer, and thermometer (I got it at a medical school) to keep the wax betwix 60-70 degrees Celsius.
soak em fer 10 minutes to let all the air bubble up.
Now the pups are done but that would be too easy too, so I decided to repaint the '93 Flying V (it is a horrible purple sunburst!). Painting usually takes around a month, but since this one is mine (not a costumers) I will probbly take at least two months before I'm done and can try out the Mad DirtyFingers.
