Mag swapping in an Invader

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

The Invader is perfect as is. No need to swap anything.

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

Im actually interested in maybe removing the smaller ceramics on the side of the big magnet? would that add extra brightness?

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

Keep the spacers and swap out the main mag for either an A8 or an A9. If you decide to get rid of the spacers permanently, pm me, I'll buy them.

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

whats the benefit of swapping magnets, does it change the sound or make it more aggressive?

Doesnt sound as good as you think it would... its muddier than normal with the spacer mags. But it sounds good with just one A8 mag.

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

Taking the spacers out but keeping the center ceramic makes it less stiff and more dynamic, a little cooler, maybe a smidge looser, but no, not really brighter.

The A8 swap with no spacers is on the darker side, with huuuuge low mids, and it's grindy. Metal rhythm stuff is brutally heavy, not the tightest, but tight enough. Cleans up decently though. Oh, and leads almost sound neck pickupy, real thick.

Re: Mag swapping in an Invader

You could get really radical and replace all the magnets with neodymium counterparts. Give the dogs earplugs though. Though maybe it wouldn't be a problem with the Invader, as dark as it is.
