magnet question

I know about the tonal difference, but can you tell me whether there is a difference in output between A2 vs A5? I'm specifically talking about rod magnets if that matters.

Re: magnet question

Typically, an A5 magnet has a stronger magnetic field than an A2 of the same size. For any given coil winding and distance from a vibrating steel string, the A5 version will induce a stronger signal.

SD makes the Five-Two replacement pickup for Stratocaster and Telecaster. I once tried to immitate this by swapping out three rod magnets from the plastic bobbin of a Fender Am Std single coil. My Five-Three exhibited considerable output differences between the E, A and D strings (A5, normal) and the G, B and E strings (A3, weaker). I opted to put the pickup back the way that it was before.
