Magnet swap gone bad.

Bored and having a few magnets sitting around, I decided to swap an A5 into my 490r. Couldn’t get the screw coil to lift at all and the damn wax between the magnet and base plate wouldn’t allow the magnet to slide out. So I put a little too much pressure on things and the slug coil swung off the baseplate and the leads going to it broke off. Dammit man!

What are the chances of having a successfully soldering those wires? Does the white wire get soldered to the single strand coming off the slug coil? Two black togeter?

IDK about the repair but I’m sorry for your loss. How hard were you pushing? Were you applying equal pressure on both coils?

Shoulda melted the wax a little

The start lead is buried under the coil. The finish lead is on top. The one you could unravel. Solder them back together to the appropriate color hookup leads.

The slug coil came loose easily. While prying on the screw coil, my hand slipped I little, I think causing the screwdriver to hit the slug coil, popping in off.

I will do that next time. A soldering iron to the bottom plate should do, no?

yeah, that's an unfortunate incident. If you are lucky, the wire that on the inside of the bobbin still has a millimeter or 3 left so you can attach this piece on. WOn't be easy.
