Magnet Swaps..

Alright, i read that if you replace the magnet in the JB, for a ceramic magnet, it will be a Distortion. Is this true??? I want to replace the JB with a distortion, and if this is true, i'll save myself the money i can spend on upgrading my new Jazzmaster. Can someone also explain how you swap the magnets???? Cheers :-).

IIRC, the Distortion uses a big--i.e. taller--ceramic magnet than the usual humbucker magnet size. If you use a normal sized ceramic, it's usually called the Distortion lite. I know an ampbuilder who has a DD lite and says it's a good pickup.

I haven't actually done it, but what I've heard is that you just have to turn the plastic spacers on their side and the bigger magnet will fit. I'm guessing SD does this on purpose, one part that works for multiple configurations is a good thing and a cost saver in the manufacturing world.
