Magnets and thickness i.e. A2 vs Ceramic

A while back I replaced a ceramic magnet with A2. The A2 was half the thickness of the ceramic. In those cases should you run 2 A2 magnets, or just replace the ceramic with the thinner A2? In the case where I made the change it was in a guitar that I was giving away as a gift and I ended up not being able to try it.

The ceramic you had in there was double thickness and the A2 you put in was standard thickness. So long as you could fit everything back together with nothing moving freely, you should be fine.

It's better to get spacers (the little things that flank the magnet that the screws go through on one side) that are the right size, but I've never had any issues from doing without. If you go from a standard magnet to double thick, you can easily just put the spacers on their sides to make it fit.
