This is my Mahaffay Plexi on high gain setting. It is a one channel amp with 3 knobs. Volume, Tone, Master. It is a hybrid amp using one 12ax7, one 12at7, into 33 watt solid state booster. Has toggle for low gain, normal, and high gain. Two speaker outs for 8-16 ohm cabs and has line out/fx loop jack that uses and insert cable for loop ability. I am running it high gain setting and have an AMT Reverberry in the loop, but loop goes out to my AMT Chameleon Cab pedal on 4/12 setting with mic on axis.

Recorded in Meteor Multitrack app on my ipad and mixed down to CAF file, then direct upload to soundcloud. Guitar is Ibanez GX70 Artist with Screamin Demon bridge. Just bridge pickup used here.

In front is an Xotic RC boost with slight gain boost. In line on the loop is an ebtech line shifter bringing the +4 dbu out down to -10dbv and into my focusrite 2i2 to go USB into ipad. Nearly 16 minutes of wanking some original and some covers you can fast forward through. Amp cleans up on low gain with no boost and a little volume knob roll back. Clean with strat and single coil for Hendrix like sound.

This was to demonstrate the high gain though.

Tris Mahaffay is awesome to deal with and these are hand built amps out of Southern California. I bought the head version only off ebay as he only offers head version off ebay. Check out Mahaffay amps website though to see other offerings.

Head was $300 + shipping.

Cabinet is beautiful in black tolex with white/beige front covering. Knobs on top.

Would also like to mention that the line out jack skips solid state section completely. You can leave a speaker hooked up and turn down the master and still record. It also does not require speaker load to record, so if you want to just take the head and setup with some DI or sim pedal into your DAW, it will work fine. The solid state 33 watt booster is very loud 33 watts and definitely loud enough to gig with or play with full band.

That's super warm & fat man! Nice Zep, Scorps, Rush etc riffing :) Sounds a bit like the tone on the last couple of Maiden albums/Riot's Immortal soul ..awesome!

Lead tones are excellent too..warm sweet & nice & complex in the mids/highs..it sounds like a much bigger amp than it is..

The cab sim is great as well..very life-like/convincing.. I think I'm going to pick one up..just for the extra options you get..

Thanks! I think you will like the options it provides over the single cab sim out on the Stonehead. I tried to match it to what I hear going out of my Marshall 2/12 plugged in. It has a very full sound to it. Between the Stonehead, Mahaffay, and my Peavey vk II 20 mh plus the D2 and SS-20 preamps I run through the Peavey, a lot of tonal options.
