If shipping isn't an issue my gut would go with Marshall
- the 1960's a fairly well known and widely used cab
- better resale
- Let's face it ... the Marshall logo is something that get recognition
i dont know, this poll has split my opinion completely. I do know that a 1960 A tends to be flabby when hammered with tons of bass. Im guessing an avatar would hold its own better. what amp you got?
I used the DSL 50 thru my Avatar cabinet (the 2X12 horizontal loaded with V30's) and it sounded great. I'm using the Avatar now with my Soldano....and again.....it sounds superb.
I own a 1960AX right now and I'm trying to sell it... it sounds awesome and looks way cool but the damn thing is just too big and heavy for me to lug around on a regular basis! Other than that I've no complaints.
I plan on getting two avatars to replace it... one with G12H30s and one with Greenbacks. I've never liked V30s for my own use and greenbacks can be thin at times so G12H30s are just right!
If it was between two 4 x12 cabs, I'd get the Marshall if I didn't mind lugging the thing around. Looks cooler...especially with a Marshall head sitting on it!
But a two x 12 cab is alot easier to move...
It would depend on the speakers too.
I guess with the Avatar you get your choice of speakers.
Personally, I'd go with a two x 12 cab with one Vintage 30 and one G12H30...becuase I DO mind lugging 4 x12 cabs around! :laugh2:
its gotta be the marshall. its just a rock icon. im ususally not a brand slave, but when it comes to cabs for a marshall head, its the way to go. you knows it.
Man I think this is ridiculous. From my own experience and from what I've read, Marshall cabs tend not to hold their bass as much as others. GET AN AVATAR.
How did you get your hands on an avatar cab in Australia? They don't ship internationally! Is there an aussie distributor? I'm getting a tube amp soon and it's time to look for cabs!
