Marshall DSL401

In my search for a new amplifier, I compared a Marshall DSL401 combo to a Peavey Valveking side by side yesterday and was blown away by how much better the DSL401 sounded. Give me your opinions on the Marshall DSL401. Thanks!

I played one about a year or some ago but from what I remember I liked it. I could be wrong, but I think these have gone up in price. Only bad thing I've heard about them is an overheating issue. Not sure if that has been fixed or not.

They do get hot, but thats how EL84s run. Mine never overheated. Good little amps, I've owned one for about 3 years, just recently moving on to a half stack. Lots of classic and less than classic Marshall tones in that little amp!

My buddy has the 401 and my one cousin has the 2x12 Peavey Vlave King (100watter)

I too will take the Marshall over the Peavey, because the Marshall is Brittish voiced, and the VK can sound Very Generic, at the best of times !

Oh, don't get me wrong, the VK IS great value for money, and the Marshall is double in price, but i prefer the voicing of the 401 wayyyyy more than that of the VK !
