Marshall ED-1 Edward The Compressor

I've been flirting around with the idea of acquiring a compressor pedal. Not sure if it's something I would really use but I'm interested in messing around with a cheap one to create some Gilmourish, Knopfleresque, or funk vibes.

The Barber Tone Press and Keeley comps look nice but a bit pricey. The MXR Dynacomp and Boss CS-3 also seem to be popular. I really don't know much about compressors but I often see the ED-1 as a solid recommendation on a budget. Any users here?

Re: Marshall ED-1 Edward The Compressor

I was using the Boss CS3 compressor for the longest time, but really felt like it was robbing me of some tone. I swtiched to a Dunlop Super Comp and I think that robs even more tone. I'm thinking about trying something else, maybe the Keely everyone raves about.

I wouldn't recommend Boss or the Dunlop - but I liked the Boss more if that helps...

I like it a lot! It's fun, got enough options to keep you busy, it's relatively quiet. The compression is quite nice on it, but I have 0 experience with compressors. I do prefer it to the compressor side on my old Route 66. Dunno what else to tell you. It's a well designed pedal.
