Marshall guys-what's the difference between a JTM & JCM?

Came across a JTM 30 combo and a JTM 60 combo. What could I expect from these and how are they different from the JCM's?

Thanks,
Steve

If you're talking about the difference between the JTM30/JTM60 amps and the JCM600 amps (both series are discontinued now) there is very little difference, in fact I'd wager it's pretty much cosmetic. I have a JTM60 2x12 combo and it's a VERY versatile amp whose two channels cover the best Marshall clean tone I've ever heard all the way to some pretty high gain.

For details of features you can download handbooks of JTM30s, JTM60s and JCM600s (and other models) here:

They came out around 95 and have construction that's more akin to a Peavey Classic, than a simpler JCM combo......meaning board mounted tubes and cheaper components, throughout. Pretty cool amps and worth owning, but they're known to have reliability problems, mostly due to the PC board overheating from the tubes. Ask Jumpmarine if his same problem ever got repaired??

something it seems the DSls inherited, to an extent :smack:...

surely it's possible to weed out these kind of design flaws at the design stage?

i prefer the JCM looks.. the JTM from what i remember has like a hot-chocolate colour grill cloth.. which i think is nice, just not my style hehe
