Marshall Jcm 2000 effects loop noise

I recently bought a jam 2000 and have been using a tube overdrive and a tc flashback pedal through the front of my amp. It sounded ok so I heard that the efx loop would help clean up some of the hum but when I plugged it in it became really bad. Any idea what would Cause this issue

So are you running the pedals in the loop? Or running a straight patch from send to return?

Either way, contact cleaner is always a good start.

I get him from both pedals in the loop

devastone is right in terms of order.

What kind of tube overdrive is it?
Do you have a power supply or battery?
Did you double check patch cables?

It is an old Johnson Tub overdrive and use batteries. I did use a few different cables. All cables sound clean through front of amp. It just really dirty through the effects channel

Definitely get some contact cleaner in there first, could be some dust or whatnot not helping your cause.

Ok will do. Will I need to take the back cover off or can I just spray through the screen and inputs?

No need to spray through the screen, just spray into the send and return jacks, then plug a cord in a few times.

Re: Marshall Jcm 2000 effects loop noise

I usually spray the jacks and work them in and out a few times. I’m not sure that spraying directly into the hole is the best way to do this.
