With original tolex in decent shape, $380 would be right. With that home tolex job in a color Marshall never used, he killed the value down to $200.

If I were you, I'd seek out the matching Vox cab for your Vox head. The rig will look better overall.

900 series Marshall 1960 cabs have MDF for everything but the plywood baffle board, so they go for less than the earlier 800 series and earlier, which were all plywood construction. Even though the new ones cost twice as much as the older ones did when they were new, the construction is inferior IMO to the all-plywood cabs.

The 900 series 1960 cabs are most certainly not MDF. I never understood were this piece of misinformation came from. The back panels are particle board, so, maybe people assumed the the entire cabinet is? Anyway... I just got another JCM 900 1960A, and paid $300 for it. The tolex, and grille cloth, have seen better days, but, it sounds terrific. There's no way I'd pay what he's asking.

I have been watching auctions for Marshall cabs for a long time on Ebay, and if you look at the inside pics of the latest 1960 cabs, the baffle board is the only part that is ply. I don't know exactly when the change came about, but it was during the 900 series timeframe. It's easy to see the MDF sides/top/bottom in inside pics. It could be that the early 900's had only the MDF back panel, but they later went to all MDF except the baffle. It was shocking to me when I realized what they were doing with such expensive cabs, I knew they had gone to MDF on the 1936 cabs, but I didn't realize that they had done the same thing with the 1960's until I started seeing the inside pics of recent ones.

P.S. I will try to find an auction with internal pics to show what I'm talking about and post a link when I get a chance.

All MDF with "whaferdale" speakers. No thanks, this head is a marshall anyway (el34)
