I run both a 2204 ad a DSL100. They're both great sounding amps and together create an amazing tone. Honestly, I'd have a rough time deciding which one to use alone. Actually, i have a gig Sunday when I'll need to make that choice.
The DSL gives my tone a heavy dose of balls, while the JCM is a cleaner, more focused tone. You will definitely need to run a pedal to up the gain though. Personally, I prefer this, so it works out great for me.
