Marshall Jmp-1

Until now I was sure I was going to buy a combo of some sort...it's use will be 99% jamming at home and home recording...(in soundproof room), want heavy but articulate distortion, also good cleans...dont want to have to crank it to "11" to get good tone. I've read several threads mentioning the Marshall jmp-1, now I'm wondering if a seperate pre / power amp set up wouldn't be more versitile and better at lower volumes....If this is the case, how does the JMP-1 stand up?..any recommedations on this or other pre-amps?....also what about power amps? I have no idea about these things so any help would be much appreciated.......

Thanks all,

Scott

Re: Marshall Jmp-1

Scott, the JMP-1 is most excellent for Marshall tones. I use a valvestate 2nd generation Marshall VS 120watt/120watt Pro ss rack amp (hard to find now) thru a 4X12 that works great for hard rock and gives good cleans too. You could use another stereo ss or tube amp though or even a single channel amp.

My rig sounds great at low mid and loud volumes. I usually don't have to go past 3. The JMP-1 is great for Marshall tones. If you want Mesa tones though, a Triaxis would be it. Stereo is the way to go though as you can add more stereo effects later and stereo gives great recording options.
