MARSHALL JMP1 battery

I got a JMP1 on Feebay a couple weeks ago and it had a dead battery. I repaced it and it worked just fine. It has been about a month and a half and it is dead again!?!? I have it in a rack and ran a 1/4 cable with an angled jack so that I could keep it plugged in all the time. Would that contribute to a dead battery again?? (like when you leave a cable plugged into to input on a pedal??) I wouldn't think this would have anything to do with it because allthis really does is store your presets in it... any help would be great!

Re: MARSHALL JMP1 battery

Leaving your JMP-1 plugged in shouldn't have any effect on battery life for the little coin cell in there. It is possible that you got a battery that has reached the end of it's shelf life. Either way, you might want to replace it again and back up all your presets. See how long it takes for the battery to run out. If it happens again, you might want to take it in to an amp tech.

that's a bugger to hear dude, i remember you looking for the model number!

there's a possibility a cap is leaking current or there's another short of some kind.. usually a quick fix for a man with the experience :)

if you got a dud battery, result! good luck!

Re: MARSHALL JMP1 battery

I had a JMP-1 for a couple years, always with plug in the front, allowing me to plug into a blank panel jack. It had no effect on the battery. I'm pretty sure the quality is hit or miss with small batteries, just like it is with tubes.

Your battery may have only been a cheap tester battery, not a long lasting one.
