Marshall Marshall Marshall, Greg Brady just got himself a cheap date.

Picked up a late 70s Master Lead Combo 2199, a 30 watt 2x12 in Solid State form. For 150.00 I just could not refuse. It is early in the Marshall SS explorations, not nearly as refined as 80s and beyond Marshall SS amps. I upped 4 cap values in it, as it needed some bottom and sustain, and the end result is a a decent sounding amp. Very light and portable, looks cool, and very rare these days. Just tinkering with a Tele and some delay.

How's it do with some gain and/or a lil boost or OD in front?

Re: Marshall Marshall Marshall, Greg Brady just got himself a cheap date.

That was one of the better looking Marshall SS amps from that era.

I wish people wouldn't add stuff like handles and fans. Casters I can forgive. Does it have holes on top for a handle?

I had not either Jeremy, that is why I had to grab it. I had a fawn one years ago.

GearJ, yes it has holes on the top, so at some point I will get one back on and remove the side ones. Should be pretty easy to cover up the old holes.

Dank, in stock form the amp is very gritty, so a pedal exaggerates that, but with the few tweaks I did, I hit it hard with a compressor and it drove really nicely. The blend channel is the key to this amp, once you dial that in, it's very decent sounding.
