I have a chance to buy a Marshall Valvestate I 8200 head. It's 200 watts and has stereo chorus. It's in new condition and I'm very interested in it. I don't know much about this model. I couldn't find it on Marshalls website. Basically I'm wanting to know if it would be a very good amp to get. And anybody thats owned one tell me how you like them and how they sound. Do they still make them? And if they don't, when did Marshall quit making them. And also if it is a very successfull model. And last how much is it worth. I know I should go try it out first. Any musician knows that so nobody give me any B.S. about that please. I just want you guy's input on this head.

THANKS. :)

Re: Marshall Valvestate I 8200

If I'm not mistaken it's the 1st series of valvestates Marshall made back in the 80's (not made anymore). They were replaces by the VS, and then the AVT series. I've seen them go pretty cheaply on Ebay.. like the sub-$300 dollar range. I've never played one myself, but I think Chuck from Death used one, and got some not bad super-high-gain tones out of 'em.

I ve played with valvestate but I don't remember the model. It has super thick cataclysmic distortions which sound really nice. The cleans are heavenly too. Great amps.
