How are the Martin DM series guitars? Are they any good? What do they mean when they use the word "laminated" to describe the back and sides? Is still a solid peice of wood?
Nope. That's exactly what laminated doesn't mean. I'm a big fan of solid-top/laminated back and sides combos though. Economically it's a good combo and they tend to be less finicky about barometric shifts (which really only matters if, like me, you often have to play in atmospherically unstable environments...like an orchestra pit near a door that keeps being opened and closed).
