Master Series Phase Wiring in SG Sound Clips

I just built this MSP Master Series Phasing rig last week with 2 push pulls and installed it in Alice my 04' Gibson SG with stock 490 pu's. I also have 500K CTS pots for volume pots and the full size Alpha push pulls for tone pots, and .01 Vitamin Q PIO Tone caps.

This wiring will give you 6 Tones vs the stock 3 you get from you Gibson. It does out of phase, series, and series out of phase (my favorite). It will work with any pu's PAF style with 2 leads, 490.496,498,500T, BB's, Classic 57's and any of the Boutique hand-wound PAF's here are the clips....

Re: Master Series Phase Wiring in SG Sound Clips

i've got similar wiring with the same pickups, although i've swapped the magnets to a5. rather than two CTS pots i've got 4 alpha push-pull pots wired up as:
neck volume- series
neck tone- coil swap
bridge volume- coil cut
bridge tone- phase

the most interesting one is with phase, series, and coil swap pulled up. the reason being is that, while OOP is often considered to be much like a wah-type sound, with coil swap and series engaged it sounds exactly like my gcb-95 in the toe-down position.

Hmm, my 490's are vintage 2 lead. Your pu's must have 4 wires to do the coil swap no or how does that work? Not familiar with the term "coil swap" is that like series parallel within the pu? I wire up the 21 Tone 4 push pull Jimmy Page wiring and it needs the 4 conductor wires. Do you have any sound clips of your rig?

i converted my pickups to 4 conductor some time ago. this is coil swap. coil swap sounds like a bassy coil cut without any hum. the wiring i've got has been dubbed "artie/page wiring".

i don't have any clips of my current stuff as i don't have a decent recording setup yet, but i've got some old clips in my signature.

btw cool tones in the clip. what amp/setup are you using?

Ok, makes sense just never ran across that mod before.

Thanks, glad you liked the sound clips clips. I am plugged straight into a 30w ss Berhingher analog modeling amp. It is one of the first ones they put out (8 years old) it has a 10" Italian made Jensen speaker. The series out of phase is probably one of my favorites.

So....how do I shut off that stupid sound that plays from Windows XP every time I turn the computer on?
