master tone vs separate pots??

I know I may be just splitting hairs here, but...

Is there any difference in tone between using one master 500k tone pot vs. two separate 500k tone pots? Volume pot is another 500k.

Just curious...I know that the number of pots changes the load on the circuit, but does it really if only one tone pot is being used at once anyway?

Thanks in advance. :)

Re: master tone vs separate pots??

Not if only 1 tone pot is in the circuit at a time, but in most standard wiring schemes there's usually a time when 2 pups are on together with their 2 tone pots. There are ways to avoid that with Super Switches, etc.

Using no load tone pots also gives you a way around that, too.

Using 2 volumes is extremely helpful, you can always lower the volume on the neck and raise it on the bridge, having a clean/dirty setting.

With respect to tones, recently many players have been using different value caps for the neck and bridge respectively
