First off DCR (DC resistance is only a rough indicator of output within a given magnet type and wire class ... if a you take two pups, same magnets, same gauge and wire type, and simply wrap more wire on one it will have a higher DCR and it will be louder and have more low end and less highs (well less highs, but since it's louder the low will be perceived as being louder).But the similarity stops there is you change the gauge of wire/type and or the magnet you can not simply says that it will be louder, and/or be darker sounding. Many people use the DCR as a rough approximation of how hot a pup will be, again this is not always so. So you see it's the entire combined elements that contribute to the tone and output level of a particular pup. But if all things are the same except for a pup being wound with more wire (higher DCR) it will be louder and a bit bassier,darker, warmer ... pick your term. When you see neck pup and bridge pup options the bridge pup version is simply wound a bit hotter as they say,the result ,slightly louder and more low end. Which is better is up to the individual. Higher output pups will overdrive amps easier, than lower output pups; also lower output pups tend to allow the player (I got to quote DiMarzio here) a sense of added touch, and dynamics. I don't know very much about DCR, but I thought it was just how hot a pup was. Kent pretty much nailed it though lol
