MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

Happy to help you exercise your evidently good taste in amps. At least I didn't have to LEAN on you like I did with GJ and teles, haha...

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

I heard this amp at a club in Laguna Hills. Some guy had a Blue Angel head thru vintage 30's cab and I was shocked at how responsive the amp was. he could play pretty clean and pick hard on notes or hit chords and the amp would distort very well. it was a very cool sound and very loud cranked up. it was all that place could handle thats for sure. :beerchug:

Yeah, with all that "CRAP" he's got, you'd think the guy would atleast have the taste to throw a Tele in there!!! :13:

The only knock on the Mesa that I've got is I wish the 3 tube settings were footswitchable. But I tweaked around a little yesterday & have it set just how I like it & all I need to do is switch the one tube knob.

Very cool amp....and yes, NEW STUFF ROCKS!!!!

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

glad you got it terry....

that's a nice addition to the family!!

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

Thanks buddy!

You know, it's funny: not only did I show up on this Forum looking for pick-up replacements, which fueled the guitar GAS.....but I also showed up touting the finer points of the Tech21NYC amps & have since purchased nothing but tube amps!!!!

YOU BUNCH OF CRACK DEALERS!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2:

I think the concept behind the whole design is being able to switch the output depending on the size of the room you're playing, but let me assure you, 15watts cranked is LOUD... :32:

It is, isn't it? I never thought the tube type needed to be footswitchable- maybe the fat switch, but this is an amp you just want to set and use your guitar and fingers for any changes. They had since discontinued this amp too, which is sad- they never pushed it very much. I think people hear 'Boogie Dual Rect' and have an idea of what an amp sounds like. Boogie should have taken that logo off the front of the amp, and would have sold more.

EXACTLY what I thought! I only pursued going to try it out because of what you guys said & I'm glad I gave it a chance! Yeah, thinking about it....the footswitchable bright/fat switch would be cool. I don't understand the reverb on/off footswitch....but I don't use a lot, so just a little is sweet with this bugger!

It is a shame they discontinued this amp. I guess they figured they could sell more 16 year olds Triple Rectifiers instead of actually pushing this amp. (AND NO...that's not a slant on 16yr. olds!!! :laugh2: )....actually, if they took the Rectifier logo off & put that hottie "Blue Angel" on there, they might have sold more!

Yeah, once it showed up broke, I decided I didn't want it because it could do nothing the TM60 or PSA-1 couldn't already do....they were very cool about it & refunded me fully.

THEN I MOVED ON TO TUBES and it's been nuts ever since!!! :laugh2:

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

well, whats the verdict, tubes or the tech 21's?

you did love those 21's....

I still love the Trademark 60 & the PSA-1 is pretty cool, but there's a certain something you only get with tubes.....something organic & alive. There's a completely different feel, so I'll just say they both have their place & leave it at that. I don't wanna start "The Great Tube vs. Modelling Debate" all over again!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: MESA BOOGIE BLUE ANGEL 4x10

Funnily enough, I've been looking at the idea of getting something like a tech21 as a backup amp. But this week, I've found myself cooking up plans to buy back my BA head...

That's very cool....probably sounds great with that Mesa 2x12 w/v-30s. Good luck in getting it back.

The TECH21 amps are very nice BTW....I'm not sure what you're looking for, but Hoss is in a bit of a fix at the moment & he's selling his TradeMark-120 2x12....super nice amp for a fair price (see the Trading Post).
