IIRC the Bottle Rocket is a single-channel version of the V-Twin; I think it's the lower-gain channel but can't remember 100%.

No thanks. I've played a Bottle Rocket before and can't say I found it terribly inspiring. If you really want a 12AX7 overdrive, the H&K Tube Factor is a lot better. I only sold that because I found the wall wart cumbersome.

I had this one. I haven't had a chance to play any of the other 3, but I've heard they're pretty good.

I bought a Bottle Rocket years ago when MARS Music went out of business....got it for next to nothing. Once you changed the tube, it was pretty sweet, but they're big (take up a lot of board room) & the wall wart can be annoying.

What does a proper lady or gentleman use for tubes in one of those?

I once upon a time had a THD Univalve amp & a ton of tubes to play Mad Scientist with. I remember swapping out a lot of tubes with it (the Bottle Rocket) & if I recall, I went with a 12AY7 instead of the 12AX7......less gain, but gave it a nice smooth OD. If you got one, I'd recommend grabbing a AX, AY, AT, & AU7, swap them out & play around for a bit, see which suits your needs.

I bet that sounds pretty good. A 12AX7 is way too hot for that pedal; makes it sound like a Boss DS-1.
