MESA Dual Rec

Been playing my Modded JMP exclusively last couple months.
Broke out the MESA today.
What great tone for a stock amp.
Modded overdrive, classic tones & everything in between and nice clean channel.
These can be had for as little as $900 bucks.
Killer amps for the money.

Re: MESA Dual Rec

They get pigeonholed as nu metal and post grunge (that treadplate doesn’t help) but they are great for a wide variety of tones. A long time ago, my friend’s dad used one for a classic rock cover band. I was shocked to see it but when they started playing it sounded great.

My big combo is a Road King, which is effectively a fully featured Dual Recto. Awesome amps.

Do you run yours through the same cabs as the Marshall?

Yep, same cabs. 70's Blackback A & B cabs.

The last three times I’ve gone to purchase a amplifier I’ve set out with the intention of getting a Dual Rec. & everytime they’ve either been priced poorly or I’ve come across something else I wanted more. Hopefully one day though, they are just the greatest sounding & well rounded massed produced amps on the market IMHO...

Re: MESA Dual Rec

I’ve been trying out amps in the Recto family, when I can, and so far the result is that my next big-money amp purchase must be in that area.

Great amp, for sure. Loved mine, but yearned for tighter lows and crunchier highs.

My Blue Angel has the Dual Rect logo (which looks ridiculous on this amp), and is part of the series. It has no master volume, and sounds nothing like any of the other amps in the series.

I love the thing. Indispensable for a big, juicy heavy rhythm sound. It does everything else leading up to that very well too. I love all the different sounds you can get between rectifier tubes and diodes and the channel cloning options. It's a real swiss army knife once you work out how to set the EQ. Some people say Mesa DR cleans are no good but I suspect they're talking about earlier revisions or they just don't know how to dial it in because the cleans on mine are really nice. I can understand it's unusual to not have a reverb tank but it's not a usual amp in the first place.
