Mesa Nomad 45 212 combo help!

I was offered this amp in a trade for my Laney GH50L. Thoughts on the amp? I've never played one, I don't expect it to be exactly like a dual recto but does it have stupid amounts of gain? Is it versatile? Would the trade make sense basically. And thanks for any answers

Had one many years ago. Plenty of gain on tap. Too many buttons and hard to dial in for me. But I prefer more simple controls. That is more Mesa in general tough than specific to that model.

Two friends of mine got this amp when it first came out. They had endless problems with them. The amps spent more time in the repair shop than anywhere else. One of them caught fire at a gig. As far as I recall the amp had a design flaw and Mesa eventually just gave up on them.

They don't sound like crunchy rock amps, more dense, compressed, and buttery like you think of when you hear Santana.

Overall, they weren't a popular Mesa for two reasons. Reliability problems and overly compressed sounding.
