Metal distortion pedal for me?

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

if you love that Marshall crush:

He has one, he just said that.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

I've sadly never played a metal distortion pedal that I've liked. They all make the tone become dry sounding if you know what I mean.

However, how about getting a pedal modded by Keeley? I think he has sound samples on his page, you can of course just buy an upgrade kit from him.

What guitar are you using when you're trying to get metal tones? maybe it could work better with other pickups? active on-board boosts?

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

I think AMT it will be. I also realized most of the tones I'm going for are not Marshall based either :smack: and the Plexitone does have enough gain for live and band use if I wanted a Marshall tone from it. So I guess I'll go for the Extreme III I think...Or ask AMT themselves. Thanks guys!

HOT DANG: The California one sounds pretty **** good! I think it's either this one of the Diststation.

AMT has a good variety of modern high gain offerings. Check out the Metallizer too. That said, I remember hearing some decent tones in Blackstar pedal sound samples.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

Fix your AOR Pierre, you have all the ODs in the world to push that baby into an ultimate wall of gaindoom.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

More expensive to fix the AOR by a mile <_< Unfortunately :( But it's in plan.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

i've been through lots of metal-type pedals in search of that thumping metal sound but majority on offer sound repulsive at upper levels. i often ended up pushing a restrained hard distortion with a mild drive to get that organic saturation but it comes at the expense of added background hiss- the reason i'm a guitar+amp type of player today.

if this pedal is available at your dealer's, suggest you try it- the tube in there may/ may not be the crucial determinant but it's impressive to say the least:

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

The AMT Californian sound is the only one left on the list, so it shall be this pedal :D Thanks y'all!

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

I tried it the AMT Californian, didn't like it at all. Cheaply built, very noisy, the sound was nothing like the clips on the website. Not recommended.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

Marshall Shredmaster... if you don't have that, the Jackhammer would be a great alternative.

Hehe Pierre....never listen to techs or overly educated people;)
I still use my Dist Station for recording, if I should use it with normal amps I would defently
use it with a loop shifter, as the bypass is connected with a Simulator.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

Ah good point! I'll build a looper sometimes very soon anyway for diverse exprimentations... thanks guys! Californian it is :D

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

I disagree to be honest, I push my JMP with a Fulltone Fulldrive for metal as my main sound. I love it. It is all a matter of taste.

I suppose. I have never heard a pedal that has worked for me. To my ears, alot better tones come from the "right" amp. Not only have they not worked for me, I never thought any of them ever sounded any good at all. A pod is about the only exception. A few things on a Pod I have thought were decent.

I am a guitar, cord, amp guy needless to say.

Re: Metal distortion pedal for me?

so far i like the boss md-2 and ds-1. the md-2 is probably my favorite out of the bosses though. very very good metal sound and crunch. you can get a new one for $65
