metal humbuckers for alder superstrat

hi,

I've got a Carvin Bolt Plus with dual humbuckers, maple neck and fingerboard, alder body, and a Floyd tremolo. I want to replace both stock pickups. I like to play metal from the 80's like Accept, Exciter, Megadeth, Anvil, Mercyful Fate & King Diamond, etc. I'm currently using amp modelers (saving for my first tube amp).

I tried an EMG 81 & 85 set but didn't care for the sound, so I defintely want to stay with passives.

for something bright like maple and alder, i think invaders are great! maybe one for the bridge, and something with medium output for the neck, depending on how clean you want to get. also you might want to check out the bill lawrence L500 series. not sure how it would sound in alder, but its incredible in mahogany.

a floyd equipt alder body with a patb-3 would be a great setup for that music. thick chunky tone with lots of output

For that 80's crunch with an Alder body, you want a Duncan Distortion and an EQ pedal - turn up the 800mhz and you will be "Balls to the Wall."

Not my choice but, alot of people that like 80's metal like a JB and jazz in a super strat.

+1 to the JB/ Jazz combo. i find this pair to be very versatile- can even handle smooth fusion/ black metal tones as well.

PATB-1. I was a skeptic until I tried it. Hot, but not too hot, thick, meaty, present...everything you want to play the music you mentioned.

Best pup I've ever had in a super strat.

I have a Hamer Diablo (alder body, maple neck, rosewood board, floyd, 24 frets) with PATB-1's in the neck and bridge and I think they are great, versatile pickups that would probably fit the bill.
