Which of these are great for metal but low output for amp guy to push their amp a notch further ?

Perpetual burn ?
Full shred ?
Screamin demon ?

Wolftone marshall head ?

Re: Metal pickup but low output for amp work?

Screamin Demon is definitely a great one for metal tone but lower output. I recently got a PATB-3 Parallel Axis Blues Saraceno and i have heard that it is very similar in terms of lower output but great metal tones.

The Custom Custom may also get you in the ballpark but has some flub due to the A2 magnet. I can get you that classic Van Halen 1984 tone perfectly however. I bet a Full Shred with an A2 would be a pretty interesting lower output match as well.

Low output and pushing an amp sound contradictory. Can you explain what you mean by pushing an amp a notch further?

Can you also give examples of the type of metal you're interested in playing?

Thanks guys... i usually play some trash stuff the chugga chugga and appreggios and scale works... havent been playing guitar like i used to but i have few high gain VHT pittbull amp heads and i just like the tone... those marshally mod type tones

I have JB on my soloist which i like but i am just thinking if i could get a lower output pickup still have the metal character to it and it allow you to also push your amp volume driving it harder and basically let the amp sing more for you rather than having a high output pickup that tame down your tube amp ?

Am so far happy with my JB but i just wanna explore abit on pickups that can make amp work harder...

Is the screamin demon lower than a JB ? Or a full shred be also lower than JB in terms of output ?

Screamin demon < Full shred < JB ?

The Perpetual Burn falls between the Screamin' Demon and Full Shred.

None of the Duncans listed in the original post have a substantial bottom end, FWIW.

I would also put the 59/Custom Hybrid in the mix. It is more medium output but still not overly powerful and it can definitely do metal. It would do prog/classic metal very well. I put it in my Kramer F3000 to get me sort of a Queensryche-ish tone/output.
