My sister is about to get her first electric guitar and after playing and listenening and looking at a few she's decided she likes the feel of a strat, the sound of my invader pickup and loves the look of the 'tom delonge strat' that was discontinued a couple of years ago. My dad can easily ship guitars from america so it looks like that would be the best way to get her a good guitar for the money, although i dont like buying a guitar without playing it first. (UK prices are not good)

Theres a few of these strats in america that shes seen and they look pretty nice, but theres only so much you can see in pictures, and ive heard many contrary things about the mexican delonge strats, so basically is it hit and miss with the quality of these guitars? or is it fairly certain that they will be up to a good enough standard?

Thanks guys,

Re: Mex Fender Quality?

Mexican strats are very good quality for an off the shelf mass produced guitar. I think the quality almost rivals the much more expensive American counterparts. A mexican strat can be had off of ebay for around $225. I would say, get a mexican, an invader, and the right pickguard, and be done with it for very cheap!!!

Re: Mex Fender Quality?

I agree, the MIM models are realy good guitars! But it mihgt be esier to simply buy a standard strat and add an invader in thier, but i also wish i could get my hands on a tom dleonge strat but now they dont make them :( Either way your sister is in for a treat, either wya she can't go wrong with her new guitar.

Re: Mex Fender Quality?

Thanks guys this has helped put my mind at ease, i think going for a MIM with an invader may be the way to go, although she really does like the sea foam green and larger headstock of the tom delonge. I guess the things i heard about the mexican quality was confused advice.
