mexistrat tuner upgrade

This has prbly been covered b4 but I didn't find anything on it. 2004 MIM deluxe powerhouse strat. Has the kluson style tuners. I want locking ones but can't find any that fit and look right with a decent price(50bucks) all chrome hardware with chrome knobs. The with chrome knobs is the hard to find part most are plastic. Basically, anyone know what tuners will drop in and are locking so I can look some up on ebay. I've seen some planet waves auto trim ones thatll fit, and then some that won't. the main problem is the screw holes won't line up. Will post pics when I get home.

I believe THESE are what you're looking for. They're nickel, not chrome, but they have the vintage look and they lock on the posts instead of the rear thumbscrew.

The Planet Waves ones (as well as most modern tuners) would require not only redrilling for new set screws, but enlarging the mounting holes as well. Sticking with the vintage style ones will save you a lot of hassle.

Good call Sabbath; I was about to recommend Sperzels but they are a little bit more pricey than those tuners in the linke you furnished. :cool2:: private:

+1 Those locking Gotoh Kluson replicas are the solution. A set with staggered height posts would be ideal. Just make sure that your nut slots are in good condition and all will be well.

i put the super expensive schaller ones that are meant for fender on my tele. they were like 80-90 bucks but fit in with NO modification and work great.
