MG412 4x12 Marshall Cab

Re: MG412 4x12 Marshall Cab

I personally would not buy or invest 300$ in a MG cab... Serach for a used 1960 or similar cab instead, even if it got a few dings and scratches and it will still sound alot better...

I'd stay away from the MG products because you can get so much better gear when buying used for the same amount of money. And you don't have to regret it later on...

Re: MG412 4x12 Marshall Cab

I have mixed feelings on the topic.

When I was looking for a 4x12 to go with my Soldano I tried a lot of value-priced cabs (Peavey, Crate, Behringer) and the MG sounded head and shoulders better than the others. In fact, it sounded better with the Decatone than some more expensive Marshall cabs.

Another nice thing is that it's relatively light for a 412.

That said, with my other amps (I sold the Soldano last winter), the MG cab is just okay. I'll probably replace it with a custom ported 2x12. I've never been that into 4x12s and find 2x12s to be more practical for my purposes.

+1, In your local trade papers, put a WANTED: Marshall 4-12 cab, or similar quality 4-12 needed. Cash in hand. Call with your best offer.

Then, wait till a few people call you, and pick the best one. I love wanted ads, because I can find something locally, and it's from a seller who wants fast cash.

Re: MG412 4x12 Marshall Cab

have you seen mg speakers? the magnets are like the size of my fist, and the cabs themselves are pretty low quality

www.avatarspeakers.com a little more, but you won't regret it. Let us know if you need help on speaker choice

Re: MG412 4x12 Marshall Cab

Wow, thanks for the help.

I'm looking for a good sounding cab to go with my 120watt Crate 2x12 combo that's around the $300.00 dollar range so I'll try to look around for a used 4x12.
