MIA Strat neck question..fake?

Hi, sorry no pics but..does anyone know of a MIA strat neck that was made without the walnut truss rod plug? I've seen MIA bullet style necks with no plug, but the neck I'm looking at is a CBS large headstock with no bullet truss rod.

The guy I'm dealing with is adamant it's MIA, but it has been refinished and with no serial number..of course.

Just trying to not get the **** end of the stick as usual..Thanks for any help.

Sounds sketchy. A pic would make it easier to tell but right away it sounds sketchy.

CBS headstock without a bullet? Maybe on the earlier CBS days.
No walnut stripe? I heard some late 60's strat didn't have them.
No serial number? Serial should be on the neck plate if I remember correctly.

There's some people on here whom I suspect know more than me though :).

Without a serial number I would pay MightyMite/AllParts price if it looks nice/decent...

If it has been refinished I am guessing a new water decal was put on at that point. My gut tells me it is not a Fender. I agree with Trey pay aftermarket pricing , there are plenty of real Fender necks out there if you are paying premium pricing. Fender also has the 70's necks available as replacements now.

Thanks guys, good advice..I'm checking it out tomorrow. It's attached to a MIM body w/ MIA loaded pick guard that looks legit. My old Hondo II LP is going down the road as part of the trade..a true weapon of sonic destruction.
