Mic'd amps compared (Rhythm/lead) Randall T2HL - Bugera 333XL Infinium

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Very quick pair of video's I put together last night.. The Randall's a hybrid head (Tube pre/SS output) and the Bugera's All-tube..

Just for a rough comparison (did'nt try matching amp setting's or anything..I've got a gig in a couple of days and I don't want to mess with those :) ) and the audio's just a single (mic'd) raw/dry track recorded with my handheld recorder (external mic). I used an Audio Technica MB2K to record (similar to an SM 57) against the grill/45 degree angle/edge of dustcap at whisper soft volume. Stock Bugera 4x12 cab. Level's were a bit low as well ..so don't expect studio quality :p

Rhythm (metal)

Lead:

EDIT:

Those were both recorded with the amp volumes/record levels way too low. Going to scrap/re-do them when I can ...meanwhile, there's a decently recorded soundcloud clip of the Bugera below..

So, that's what a Bugera sounds like.

haha....not really.

...that was recorded so low....it made it sound like sh1t ( ...when it actually sounds ****ing AWESOME ;) )

Behold... :D

More random/sloppy noodling - Still recorded at bedroom volume..but not practically inaudible like it was up there in that video ^^

Otherwise ..the same recording process/mic positioning etc..just with the volume turned up a bit & some minor tone tweaking/fine tuning of the head..

Too bad I could'nt record my Randall again as well but the recorder's batteries ran out and I did'nt have spares handy :lmao:

....going to re-do those crappy ^^ video's when I can anyway, now that I have the levels sorted out.

haha..yeah, tonnes of wet, meaty grind. People go on about the Bugera 6260/6262's & their 5150/6505 tone but this is where it's at for me..a really beastly, unique sounding head :D Add a touch of amp reverb & the lead tones are just incredible..really 3D/complex & sweet. The only thing cheap about it is it's price hehe ..love this thing. :headbang:
