Microphonic after cover swap

So I did a pickup swap and kept the original covers on one of my Les Paul clones. The pickups in there now were previously potted prior to the swap and were not microphonic, so I'm assuming that the swap is the culprit.

Now that the thing is back together and all, what do I need to do and is there an easy way of doing it? I'm really hoping to not have to take the pickups out again.

Re: Microphonic after cover swap

You need to wax pot them again and fill the void between the inside of the cover and the top surface of the pickup coil with wax. OR: remove the nickel cover and place a strip of 1/2" masking tape inside the cover to dampen the vibrations...that will usually do the trick. Do in the area that would be over the non adjustable slug polepieces. Lew
