Middle Pickup for HSH

Hey there, I have a SH-6B and 6N humbucker pickups and I have a guitar body set up for HSH and I am having trouble picking a good middle PUP for these two humbuckers. I Like the high output of them for rock but I want to play blues as well, so I would like the middle one to round them out and maybe give me a bluesy touch. Any advise?

welcome to the forum!

id suggest a custom stack plus. a hotter single coil that should match well with the buckers in the neck and bridge and is humcancelling. its a stack version of the ssl6

Re: Middle Pickup for HSH

I would go with an SSL-1. Set your gain properly for the middle pickup to the edge of breakup and you will have a nice true single coil sound that does not hum that much yet for some nice rhythm guitar, then when you need single notes to stand out just switch to the bridge and when you are done switch back to the middle. Pickup height may need to be adjusted for better results. No need for a booster or channel switching, that is how my Charvel 2014 is set right now, I have a duncan distortion in the bridge too.

First decide if it is important for you if it is hum-cancelling. Also decide if you want it to sound like a true single coil, a fatter single coil, or a humbucker. Lastly, decide on the EQ you want for that position.

It's not important that it is hum canceling but if it is that is a plus. I definitely want a true, fat and loud single coil pick up.
