Middle pickup for P90 neck (SP90-1)

I'm currently using a P90 neck with a classic stack plus in the middle of my alder Strat. It's not perfect yet IMO and it could have some more stratty tones/quack. The stack needs to be low because otherwise it looses the quack quickly. In the bridge I have a Custom 5 which sounds a little better with the stack. I've had the classic stack plus in a different alder strat before in the middle position and somehow I think it's not a pickup I like.

I was thinking to put an SSL-7 RWRP quarter pounder in the middle. Another alternative is to install a 2nd P90 in the middle. Anyone having experience with these combinations? How do neck and middle P90s sound together and is there a RWRP version?

i dont think a hotter pup in the middle will help with the quack but i dont have a neck p90 to play with to test that out. its the relationship between the two pups in parallel that give it that sound. in general if im going for quack, i use a bright low output pup set low

Thanks Jeremy! I use an Area 67 in the middle pos in another guitar and you're right that a higher output won't improve the quack. I already had to lower the stack so that's spot on. ;)

Anyone using a P90 neck with a single coil middle? What do you use and how does it sound?

Not at the moment.

IMO, for the quack, the two pickups involved need to be similar.

My modified old PRS EGII has three humbuckers via a five-way lever selector switch. The "in-between" sounds are pretty Stratty. There are no coil splits on the guitar.

In theory then the Classic Stack Plus should be stronger because it's overpowering the P90 quickly and the mid sound is too present. So I should choose a single coil that's about the 8-9k of the SP90-1 in RWRP?

EDIT: And maybe also use a SP90-1 in the middle. It's got a totally different resonance freq (4,3k) then most sc's. Someone is using 2x P90's?
